the frozen way a string of wolfish dogs toil. Their
bristling fur is rimmed with frost. Their breath freezing
in the air as it leaves their mouth, spouting forth
in plumes of vapour that settle upon the hair of their
bodies and forming crystals of frost. The dog sled spans
across the white fields. Glittering snow flies behind
running dogs.
As you stand behind the sled pulled
by dogs you have that special feeling, which is the
same as polar hunters, explorers of polar lands, goldminers
searching for a better cut as they had in the past.
All those people have one thing in common - the connection
with their dogs as their lives depended on them.
Did you read the books by Jack
London in your childhood? Do you have deep in your mind
the wish to try out this life? At least for a while?

THE SUMMER EXCURSION 
Are you planning
a trip to Horni Maxov and looking for a great
target for your trip? Then come visit us for an
excursion into the life of a dog pack. Come and
share time with Siberian huskies. You can meet
the dogs, caress them, take photos. See the sleds,
harnesses and demonstration of a dog team. You
can have tea or coffe and we can talk and answer
your questions about dogs, mushing or sleddog
races. We can also watch movies from last year's
racing season...

ACCOMMODATION, staying with dogs
This Nordic sport is connected
with the never-ending snowy distance, but what
happens when the snow melts and the sun beams
heat the earth? Then comes the offer for the summer
season when one can do a huge amount of activities
possible in the Jizera Mountains and spend the
time with the four-legged friends as well.

Program:
It is up to you, but you can take maximum advantage
of the opportunity to be as much as possible in
contact with the whole pack of dogs. Volunteer
with no limits and every helping hand is welcome.
During the day
you can make trips, walking or ride the moutainbike
and in the evening sit by the fire, or enjoy the
nearby pub .... it depends on you.

We
offer a variety of arts and crafts which
in the past have included painting, beadwork,
felting, custom t-shirts, and more, and
new this year will be native american
crafts. We combine this with a variety
of outdoor activities such as rafting,
indoor rock climbing, hiking, camping
for one or two nights in a teepee, outdoor
skills, and are looking at adding archery
and some other new activies.
A s always there is the potential for
puppies, and time caring for dogs and
playing.
there is a focus on speaking english during
all activities to aid in conversational
abilities and developing new vocabulary.
We are offering a one week stay in the
Jizera Mountains. It will be a camp for
children with huskies, and a program developed
by native American English speaker Rodney
Lovette and his wife, musher and breeder,
Jana Lovette Henychova. They have combined
experience in organizing various outdoor
activities through their husky school.

Autumn, we start to train and you can be with
us!!!!
In autumn there come
cold mornings and days and there also comes the
time of training and it is the beginning of the
preparation for the season. The training of the
dogsled takes place on the 4-wheel-carts equipped
with a breaking system. This year we have three
carts so even you can take part in the training.
The trails are about 30km all around the Jizera
mountains. In my opinion the autumn time there
is the most wonderful and you can enjoy the autumn
beauty of the mountains at the dogsled. The trip
can include overnight sleeping under the open
sky. The greatest advantage of the autumn rides
is that the mountains are empty and belong just
to you and the dogs. Autumn months are just the
most fantastic!!!

be with us!!!!
If three days is
not enough for you, we can arrange for you to
join us for a longer period of time. If you decide
to take this option, the first three days will
be made up of the basic course, to teach you the
logical basics of the training. After the first
three days, you will then become part of the normal
daily life of the dogs and the dog trainers and
you will be involved in all the daily work that
is required of the dog trainers, day in and day
out. You will be part of the normal functioning
and work of the dogs at Horni Maxov, which is
an integral part of everyday life ....

being active keeps mushers warm. Loose clothing
is much better than tight clothing and numerous

Sleddog program for children - excursion with
ride as a passenger
Are you planning
a trip to Horni Maxov and looking for a great
target for your trip? Then come visit us for the
excursion into the life of a dog pack.
Come and share time
with Siberian huskies. You can meet the dogs,
caress them, take photos. See the sleds, harnesses
and enjoy sitting in the sled pulled by dogs as
a passenger on the short circuit behind the house.
It is a great possibility for children and their
parents. Those who may suffer from the cold can
wait for the others inside, relaxing in the kitchen
with the warm stove, drinking tea or coffe:-).

Who is this for?
The age or physical
fitness does not matter. It is always possible to modify
the program for everyone, for families with small children,
for high active athletes or for seniors wanting to relax.
I have also experience with physically handicapped people
and I can say that even the blindness is not an obstacle
to enjoy the time with sleddogs...
Everyone can either
choose to really drive his team of dogs or have a ride
in a sleigh ...

A few tips before the arrival...
Where to find us?
The best way to Maxov
is following this procedure: follow the highway from
Prague, to Liberec,
before Liberec take the turning off from the highway
in the direction of Jablonec nad
Nisou. Go through Jablonec and follow direction
Tanvald (Harrachov). In the first village after
Jablonec, which is called Lučany
you will find the info sign Horní
Maxov , turn left and follow the main street.
Go along the main road, which is surrounded by bus stops
of the city bus, which end in Horni Maxov. Follow the
main road. (Don´t turn to hotel Horni Maxov, the direction
is to Josefův důl, don´t go straight to Karlov village,
this is not in our direction). After 5km on the main
road you will reach Horní Maxov
- the church. Pass the church and bus stop on
the left. Go passed the restaurant U Tonička on the
right and turn to left
(opposite of the entrance to the restaurant). Go straight,
after about 800 meters
the road starts a slight climb. Stay on the right and
at the first opportunity turn
to the right. To make sure that you are in the
right place: you can see in front of you on the left
hand side a tourist map with the heading Horni Maxov
a traffic sign 3,5 t. Go straight
ahead for 1 km. At the first turning of the road
you are standing in front of the house surrounded by
a wooden fence. Well, you are here. Parking and entrance
to the house is on the other side ... You

What to wear?
Take comfortable sports clothes. Not
too warm, because you will have enough heat due to the
movement. It is good to come in one set of clothes and
to have your old clothes ready to go to the dogyard.
Remember that clothing for dogs can be messed up or
torn... It is important to have comfortable shoes to
walk in deep snow or in mud. It is also good to have
gloves, hat, glasses against flying snow (mud).
What to take with you and what not
to take?
Definitely, take with you a good mood,
a camera and if you like, your family or friends as
spectators.
If you like, you can bring tidbits for
the dogs, but it is really not neccerary :-).
Please don´t bring with you your
pets!
How to get the most
from your huskies adventure?
Get involved and
be open-minded. The more that people get involved in
caring for the huskies, learning the huskies' names,
helping the guides and being a part of the team, the
more people get out of the trip. Be open-minded to the
opportunity to try new experiences.
